JBL Makes 5.1 Sound Easy

BL is making it easy to get 5.1-channel surround sound via its new SCS500.5 speaker package.

The package includes four compact, two-way satellite speakers that employ a ½-inch titanium-laminate tweeter and 3 ½-inch PolyPlas woofers; a dedicated centre channel that uses a 3/4 –inch titanium-laminate tweeter mounted between dual 3 ½-inch woofers; and a 10-inch, 150 watt tuned-power subwoofer enclosure. All speakers can handle 100 watts of power, and feature upgraded drivers and components to provide “wide frequency response and natural tonal balance”. Each is designed with subtle curves, and finished in rich charcoal (the sub adds silver accents).

Subwoofer features include a level control, LFE (low-frequency effects) and line-level inputs; and speaker-level inputs and outputs. An Auto Power-On/Off function automatically turns on the subs when an audio signal is present, then switches to standby mode when it is not.

The satellites can be wall-, shelf-, or stand-mounted via included swivel brackets; and are compatible with popular mounting hardware from manufacturers like Sanus and Omnimount. All necessary cables are included.
