Roth Audio’s ALFiE iPod dock, which was on display at CEDIA EXPO 2007 in prototype format, will be shipping this December for CDN$999.99. The sleek unit, which unusually docks the iPod on the back rather than in the centre or front, is compatible with all of the latest iPod incarnations, including the Touch, Nano, and Classic.

“The recent release of the new model iPods from Apple are outfitted with a specific chip blocking certain functions,” explained Mark Baranowski, Marketing Coordinator for Erikson Consumer, the Canadian distributor for Roth Audio. “This was done to limit the rampant fabrication of generic docks in the marketplace that were not properly certified. Roth Audio worked closely with Apple to ensure all bases were covered prior to the release of ALFiE. This unit will be the first on the market to accommodate streaming your iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPhone.”
